Breeding Coffee culture YOUNG

Cafes milk profits from young latte set - National - smh.com.au: "It is just a cup of milky froth but the babycino has become one of the crucial factors in the battle to win the hearts of Sydney's coffee drinkers.

And while some cafes are happy to give the tiny cups of froth away, others are charging parents up to $2.50.

Sean Edwards, managing director of cafe consultancy company Cafe Biz, said: 'Smart operators are using babycinos to boost their business.

'Not only are they introducing a new generation to coffee drinking but they know that if the kids are happy then mum will stay and have another cup.'

Coffee is the main revenue stream for many cafes.

Mr Edwards said it cost 55 cents to fill a cup with coffee. 'The rest is profit,' he said."
