Australians avoid Bali after bombs, the world awaits

Australians avoid Bali after bombs, the world awaits - National - theage.com.au: "

AUSTRALIAN tourists have abandoned Bali in the wake of the second bombing there.

So far this year, the number of Australians visiting Indonesia has slumped by half.

Instead, many Australians are going to Thailand or Singapore. Others are fanning out all over the world, from India to the Gulf states, Italy, Africa and the US.

Bureau of Statistics figures released yesterday also show a dramatic increase in people entering Australia for short-term jobs. This year they have almost doubled to 12,000 a month, six times as many as when the Howard Government took office."
